If you go to the Activity tab, or review the activity of an invoice or customer, you are able to see the different statuses of email that were sent from Gaviti to the customer.
Below is a guide to what each status means to help you in the process
Open - The email has been delivered to the customer and was opened by the customer.
Delivered - The email was successfully delivered to the customer
Reported Spam - The customer, either manually or automatically, flagged our email service as spam. The customer will have to manually remove us from the spam list to get emails for Gaviti.
Bounce - The email is rejected by the recipient's email server. This could occur for various reasons:
- The recipient's email address doesn't exist (hard bounce).
- The recipient's inbox is full or temporarily unavailable (soft bounce).
Dropped - The email service has stopped the email from being sent. This happens when it identifies the email as undeliverable before it even leaves their server. Some reasons include:
- The recipient's email address is on a bounce or spam suppression list (i.e., a previous delivery attempt failed).
- The recipient has marked previous emails as spam.
Deferred - The recipient’s email server temporarily rejects the message. This happens due to reasons like:
- The recipient's mail server is busy or unreachable.
- Rate limiting by the recipient’s server (e.g., too many emails being sent at once).
Gaviti will attempt to resend the email for a certain period before marking it as a permanent failure.
